There is always a possibility that the fibroids can grow again after any treatment for uterine fibroids hysterectomy except when you take out the entire uterus. But with surgical myomectomy, the uterine artery embolization, and MR guided Focused Ultrasound, there is the possibility that the fibroids may grow back. br With the procedure of MRguided focused ultrasound, and which was recently approved in 2004, do not really know the long term regrowth rate since then. There are some patients that their fibroids grow back and we are confident that patients will grow again and that patients do not. br However, if one takes into account the advantages of MRIguided focused ultrasound procedure, in which no recovery time, no radiation and no change from the inside of your body with scar tissue, you have to decide which treatment option is best for you. br Dr. Suzanne Leblang, MD, specializes in MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) applications. She is an Americantrained and board certified radiologist with added certification in neuroradiology. Dr. Leblang made the FDA approved the first MRgFUS (Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound) for the U.S., the only noninvasive procedure to treat uterine fibroids, and has, as a single operator, made of most of the procedures in the country to date. He has extensive experience in the treatment of fibroids including working with complex cases of fibroids. br br
